Rowing – Maadi Cup Regatta 2025
Forty students headed down to Lake Karapiro last week to compete at the largest event for Secondary Schools in the Southern Hemisphere - the Maadi Regatta.

Together, the squad had a standout performance, achieving the best results since 2016!

Over the course of the week, the girls competed against the best school rowers in the country, managing to attain 10 A finals, 6 B finals and 1 C final. Competition was extremely tough but our girls showed resilience, determination, and strength across multiple events.

After the earlier success at North Island Secondary Schools Regatta where we secured 9 medals, we arrived at the Maadi Regatta with pride and confidence and this was reflected in our results; 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.

A highlight of the week was seeing our U15’s compete, racing their hardest to come away with a Gold medal and the trophy for the Girls Under 15 Coxed Eight. This crew of hardworking girls demonstrated their incredible strength and determination, managing to finish in a time of 6:49.

We are equally as proud of all the girls who competed at the Maadi Regatta this week as without the help of everyone, these results would not have been possible! Thank you to our coaches who have led us to one of our most successful Maadi Regattas in a while!

It was great to have so many Dio supporters in red caps lakeside across the week, from rowing teammates, the wider school, family members and friends. The outstanding results from this regatta are an inspiration to future generations of Dio rowers, setting the stage for triumphant seasons to come!

Congratulations to all our rowers, coaches, and supporters for an incredible Maadi Regatta.
