Following this, the choir travelled up to Auckland to sing alongside the NZ Youth Choir and Voices NZ, in a massed choir performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. This was an extremely special opportunity, as it was the first time in 20 years that all three national choirs joined forces, and Hattie and Sunny were fortunate to be able to sing alongside former Dio teachers Shona Macintyre Bull, Helen Acheson and Rachel Young. Year 12 student Eleanor Christiansen was also a part of this performance as a member of the reserve choir.

Also, the students have just found out that NZSSC won Children’s Choir of the World 2022 at the Llangollen International Musical Eistedfod in Wales.

What a fabulous achievement for this wonderful secondary school’s national treasure!
