Earlier this month Isabelle Brabant travelled to Phoenix, Arizona, to compete in the HHI World Competition, with Neverland Studios dance crew, Khaos.
Khaos is Neverland’s first Junior Crew to ever make the finals of this event, and they were the only crew from New Zealand to reach the finals in the Junior Division this year. They ended up finishing 7th in the world! An amazing achievement.
Known in the industry as the ‘Olympics of Dance’, this year, HHI welcomed 211 crews from 33 countries. There were six divisions of competition.
Alice Bright, Isa Carnachan, Ruby Ogg and Amelia Mackenzie also travelled to the competition as part of the crew Lynx, who train under Dio Hip Hop coach, Ashley Medcalfe, at RGD Studios. Lynx finished 9th in the competition.
It was the first time the Lynx crew had competed at Worlds, so making it to the semi-final and finishing 9th place in the competition is an outstanding achievement.
The HHI Worlds was an amazing experience and all of the New Zealand teams gave it their all, punching well above their weight in this space. All the NZ Junior teams advanced to semi-finals which is a fantastic feat. The calibre of the dancers was truly world standard and we are so proud to see some of our top dancers at Dio involved.
