Flora Oskam Stevens (8MI) recently competed in the Optimist National Championships. It was a challenging regatta with various weather and sailing conditions where each sailor had to strategise well.
Flora sailed incredibly well, and at one stage was leading the fleet in one race (just beaten on the finish line).
In another race, she came third, just behind the top one and two boys.
After four days, Flora was very close to ending the regatta as second girl. With only a 3-point difference, she ended up third girl overall and 16th place overall out of 96 sailors in Open Fleet.
This is a great achievement especially as it is Flora’s first year in Open fleet. Congratulations Flora, we are very proud of you!
