Although not a sport offered at Dio, we are delighted at the success of Christine Aixinjueluo (7SE) and Ann Kyle (7RO), in the recent 2020 NZ Ice Figure Skating Championships held in Dunedin.
Christine did exceedingly well, and came first in her category, Basic Novice U12 with a score 30.34 (also the highest score for all 12 competitors in the Basic Novice Ladies’ competition). Christine competed last year, and also came first.

The success didn’t end there. Dio’s Ann Kyle (7RO) also competed in the Intermediate Novice Ladies under 12 solo category achieving a silver medal and qualifying for the NZIFSA 2021 development squad. With her ice dance partner Blake she also competed in the Advanced Novice Ice Dance category achieving the silver medal again and double qualifying for NZIFSA 2021 development squad.
Despite a challenging year with no training possible during alert levels 3 & 4, delayed/cancelled qualifying events and limited preparation time they still managed a great result at the NZ Ice Figure Skating Championship, congratulations to both Christine and Ann.
