Some very talented singers took to the new stage on Monday 7th September.
On Monday evening we were again treated to performances in our new Diocesan Theatre - this time it was the turn of the young singers. The first round saw the panel select from over 100 auditionees, in both vocal and instrumental, and 14 JHS finalists were chosen to sing on stage. These girls represent the brightest and best of our young vocal talent, and once again, due to all the disruptions, very few of them have had the chance to sing publicly this year.
Adjudicator, Catrin Johnsson, internationally renowned Swedish opera singer and vocal clinician at the University of Auckland, spoke about the commitment and bravery of these young vocalists, how they expressed their story-telling with such conviction and kept their nerve singing on a vast stage to an empty auditorium.
Congratulations to each and every one of the JHS vocalists – another very special evening.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we were not permitted an audience outside of our school bubble, so once again we live-streamed the event, this time with much better results through facebook. This is a huge learning curve for everyone and we will continue to live-stream, use our beautiful facility, and let students get on that stage and enjoy the experience.
