A record 62 girls came to have a go at rowing this Sunday!
Girls in Years 9-12 enjoyed a great day out at the Auckland Rowing Club where they had the chance to experience a row in Diocesan's fleet of racing eights.
Plenty of our senior rowers and coaches were there to help show girls the basics on the water, navigate the boats safely around the Tamaki River, coach the new recruits on the rowing machines, and tour new girls around Diocesan's training base. The wind and rain mostly held off and only a couple of unlucky crews got caught in a passing shower!
Our novice coach Camille Dignadice led the girls in fun teambuilding games and answered questions about what the coming season involves. Last season we had a very successful group of novice recruits who won a national title and multiple North Island medals. The coaches are very excited about what next season holds after such a strong turnout at the weekend.
The day finished with a sausage sizzle and hot milo organised by our team of parent supporters! Well done to all the girls who came to give rowing a go, and a huge thank you to everyone who helped the day run so smoothly.
