Congratulations to all of our finalists in the Aria competition on Tuesday 11 August
On the night Lockdown #2 was announced, we were treated to an evening of beautiful singing from our senior aria finalists. These girls represent the brightest and best of our vocal talent, and this year presented an added poignancy as none of these girls have had the chance to sing publicly this year.
Musical productions have been cancelled, Big Sing was cancelled, and four of the 10 finalists are members of National choir, NZSSC, and were about to embark on their big European Tour.
With over 100 auditionees across aria and concerto, the panel selected 12 senior finalists. The students presented some moving and remarkably mature performances - the sheer artistry and talent on display was impressive.
Adjudicator, Dr Catrin Johnsson, an internationally renowned Swedish opera singer and vocal clinician at the University of Auckland, had the very difficult task of choosing the winners.
